Enterprise Data Backup & Recovery Services

Your business data is your most valuable asset. NexCore Systems protects it with multi-layered, enterprise-grade backup solutions — including immutable cloud backup that ransomware cannot encrypt — and delivers guaranteed recovery when you need it most.

⚠️ Critical Statistic: 60% of small businesses that suffer a major data loss go out of business within 6 months. Ransomware attackers specifically target backup systems first — ensuring victims have no choice but to pay the ransom. Is your backup immune to ransomware?

Modern Data Protection for California Businesses

Traditional backup solutions — tape drives, local NAS, basic cloud backup services — cannot protect against today's threats. Ransomware attacks typically spend 30–90 days inside your network before encrypting data, during which time they also encrypt, corrupt, or delete accessible backup copies. The only protection is backup solutions that ransomware literally cannot reach.

NexCore Systems implements enterprise backup architectures following the 3-2-1-1-0 rule: 3 copies of data, on 2 different media types, with 1 offsite copy, 1 air-gapped or immutable copy, and 0 errors verified by automated recovery testing.

Our Data Protection Solutions

Immutable Cloud Backup

Immutable backup uses object storage with Write-Once-Read-Many (WORM) policies that prevent any modification or deletion of backup data — even by your own administrators — during the retention period. We implement immutable backup using Veeam Cloud Connect, Wasabi Immutable Storage, AWS S3 Object Lock, and Azure Blob Storage immutable policies. Ransomware cannot encrypt your backups when your backups are physically unmodifiable.

Microsoft 365 Backup

Microsoft's default data retention for Microsoft 365 — Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams — provides limited protection against accidental deletion, ransomware, and malicious insiders. Microsoft explicitly states that you are responsible for protecting your own data. NexCore implements third-party Microsoft 365 backup solutions from Veeam and Spanning that retain all M365 data for the retention period your compliance requirements demand.

Server & Endpoint Backup

Enterprise backup of physical servers, virtual machines (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V), and workstations with RPO as low as 15 minutes for critical systems. We support Veeam Backup & Replication, Acronis Cyber Protect, and native cloud backup services for AWS EC2 and Azure VMs. All backups include automated recovery testing with monthly verified restore reports for compliance auditors.

Database Backup & Protection

Critical database protection for SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB with transaction-log-level backup granularity. We implement continuous data protection (CDP) for databases requiring near-zero RPO, with automated validation of backup integrity after every job.

Emergency Data Recovery Services

When disaster strikes — ransomware, accidental deletion, hardware failure, natural disaster — NexCore provides emergency data recovery services with 4-hour response SLA for clients under our managed backup plans. Our recovery success rate is 99.99% across all backup types and failure scenarios.

Backup Compliance Requirements

  • HIPAA: 6-year retention of electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI) with audit logs
  • SEC/FINRA: 3–7 year retention of financial communications and records
  • CCPA: Data deletion requests require knowing where data lives — backup inventory is essential
  • SOC 2: Backup and recovery procedures are a required Trust Services Criteria control
  • Cyber Insurance: Immutable backup is now a requirement for most cyber liability policies
Does Microsoft 365 automatically back up our email and files?
No. Microsoft provides availability and redundancy for Microsoft 365 services, but it is not a backup solution. Microsoft's data retention policies do not protect against accidental mass deletion, ransomware that encrypts SharePoint libraries, or malicious insider deletion. You need a dedicated Microsoft 365 backup solution.
How do we know our backups are actually working?
Most businesses discover their backups are broken during a crisis — which is the worst possible time. NexCore automatically tests recovery of a random sample of backup jobs every month and provides you with a verified restore report. This report documents that specific files, databases, and VMs were successfully restored from backup on a specific date — providing audit evidence for compliance reviewers.
Can ransomware reach our cloud backups?
Standard cloud backup (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive) can be encrypted by ransomware if the ransomware runs under credentials with access to those services. Immutable backup specifically prevents this — the backup data cannot be modified or deleted regardless of what credentials the attacker obtains. Immutable backup is the critical protection layer that makes ransomware recovery possible without paying the ransom.
